Chat with Dan Gurewitch, In Its Entirety
Me: PENIS
Dan Gurewitch: You're a grown man. A grown adult man with a job, and responsibilities. People depend on you, people seek your wisdom - the wisdom gained from years of life experience, years of maturing - maturing not into little Bill, or Billy, but Will. Indeed, William. A man who walks this Earth fully developed, having attained and subsequently become the very definition of adulthood, and what it means to leave the silly and trite pursuits and distractions of youth behind and step forward into the light, pursuing a higher, more important goal. The most recent adult human male after thousands of years of evolution - an example of the full extent of homo sapien development up until this very day, which by definition is the most advanced day in the history of our human society. You bear that torch. It is yours to bear. What you choose to do with it, is up to you.

Adam's Year End Movie List!
adamconover: What a year it’s been for Hollywood! There were so many great films this year, and the only thing more fun than watching them is debating, arguing, and writing about which were the best. So without further ado, here’s my official list of my favorite films of 2011, in order: Rise of the Planet of the Apes Thanks everyone! See you at the movies in 2012!

Brutality and Chuckles: Top Ten Records of 2011... →
No disrespect but these lists from Garlock read like a short story in which all of the referemces are part of a fictional universe I know nothing about. garlock: This is the time of year right before Christmas when stuff has died out. I have come off of a semi painful standup set and i got nothing to do except this one job i have to procrastinate on, right now, by making my top ten records of...

Will Obama ever support marriage equality? →
salgentile: There’s a good essay in the New Yorker by former Bill Clinton adviser Richard Socarides on the question of whether Obama will declare his support for marriage equality before the election: The remarkable new reality for Obama in this election is that supporting marriage equality is smart politics. A majority of independents and young voters already favor equal marriage rights....

patrickcassels: Watch this sketch! Partly because it’s really funny, but mostly because Streeter Seidell hates it when people see him with a goatee.

Success of Occupy
I had written before that the Occupy Wall Street protest was like a sketch with no game, which it certainly felt like at first. BUT I can already see what the real success of Occupy was, which is that it created a vocabulary and a story we can use to express our feelings about the corruption and greed of corporations. “We are the 99%” is a brilliant phrase, and feels solidly part of...

Margaret Dumont
More about me: I am a flustered professor in Elaine Carroll’s Very-Mary Kate series. I am a put-upon pharmacist in Christine Nangle’s I Wanna Have Your Baby Series. If I can just get into Broad City as a confused waiter, I will have successfully become the Margaret Dumont to this generations’ Marx Brothers, except it’s mostly on the web and everyone’s a girl now.

The main woman in Soul II Soul did background vocals for Elvis Costello’s “Every Day I Write The Book” and Erasure’s “Chains of Love” = i.e. coolest resume of 1991 before Kurt Cobain showed up. stopallthedownloading: Somebody in this office has a cell phone ring that sounds like The Weather Channel soundtrack. joestanton: healywu replied to your post: Agree on one thing (Improv) Non-agreement is still a denial - it’s a denial of at least part of the reality asserted by a scene partner and it’s BS. Same reason reveals rarely work in improv - they end up feeling like a lie and the audience doesn’t like being tricked. Exactly! But I think we need terms to describe the sort of insidious denial that...
